The sponsorship for Techfest, which was held from January 7-9, has increased by 16% from last year. Nobel laureate Harold Kroto and Michael Jones, the founder of Google Earth, gave lectures at Techfest this year.

“Being the largest technology festival in Asia, we attract the latest technologies developed across the globe. Sponsors, national and international, think it would be worthy enough to invest in an event of this magnitude,” said Ronnie Philip, coordinator for Techfest 2011.

While Tata Docomo was the main sponsor for a second year, Kaspersky Lab was an associate title sponsor this year. Techfest also had events sponsored by technology field biggies like Microsoft, L&T and Airbus. “These companies want to tap into the minds of this generation and look for innovative thinking to improve industrial standards,” said Philip.

“Being Asia’s largest tech festival, Techfest reaches out to our target audience. It is a forum to unleash creativity in the technical field,” said Abdul Khan, state marketing head, Tata Docomo.
