Speaking to reporters, Maria said on Wednesday that he had told two women deputy commissioners of police, Sharda Raut and Supriya Patil-Yadav, to organise meetings throughout the city to find out about the problems faced by policewomen.
Citing examples of how the Mumbai police ensured that policewomen got proper facilities, Maria said most of the constables in the recently-trained batch of women beat marshals were given eight-hour duties and a posting of their choice.
Only 17 of the women constables could not be posted at their preferred locations as the entire city had to be covered and it was necessary to post these constables throughout the city.
