US President Barack Obama’s visit to the city this Diwali weekend will make it tough for you to find cabs and autos.
Mumbaiites who need to go to or arrive at the airport and those who have to go to south Mumbai will be the worst hit.
“Autos have been asked not to enter airport premises,” said auto union leader Thampi Kurien. Taxis will also avoid south Mumbai, especially Colaba and Church-gate. “There will be at least 30% less cabs this weekend,” said A Quadros, general secretary, Mumbai Taximen’s Union.
The traffic police have closed 11 roads around the Taj hotel for the two days that Obama will be staying there. On
Saturday, parking is forbidden on these roads, Colaba Causeway, Marine Drive and Haji Ali junction.
Meanwhile, the city’s 26/11 police heroes may also miss the chance to meet Obama as the top police brass is upset with the US for refusing to hold a function for 26/11 martyrs at the Marine Drive police gymkhana.
