Big Bang Blues, a Delhi based band opens up and share their inspiration and interest.

Who are you?
We are Big Bang Blues, a Delhi-based band. Our music is not pure blues, it’s blues- inspired. So, you’d find a blend of various genres in our music, little blues, little jazz, little rock-n-roll. We play music that’ll make you feel happy and relaxed.

How long have you been around?
Big bang Blues has been into existence since 2009, but the current line-up is there since 2010.

Why this name?
Blues music has been the mother of contemporary genres so the name seemed a logical choice, just like the Big Bang theory and the beginning of the universe (not the TV serial). That aside, we present the blues with immense power and energy, thus “big bang.”

What makes you click?

Your favourite blues band?
Can’t name one. There are too many really good blues musicians and bands that have influenced us.

Joplin or Clapton?

Blues in the ’80s, ’90 or 2000s?
The question should have been Blues in the 1800s, 1900s or 2000s.

The most inspiring song, event or artist?
Event: Blue Frog gig as a part of our Bombay–Pune Tour.

Do you support a cause?
Yes, Music! The biggest cause is to ensure that artforms and genuine heartfelt music isn’t lost in the rat race for success and money.

What is Blues for you?
Blues is what comes from your most personal experiences: Pain, joy, pleasure, prayer. Blues is the language of your emotions.

When is the thrill truly gone?
When there is no music!

Love to hangout in Delhi? Where?
Gary’s (He’s our good friend and manager)

Love to perform in Delhi? Why?
Love to perform anywhere. Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Naukuchiaataal. The place doesn’t matter. All you need is a stage and people who appreciate your music.

Best place in Delhi to make music?
Anywhere. All you need is inspiration and that can come from anything, be it an autorickshaw, a tree or your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend.

The one gig you’d most want to play at?
Woodstock! Only in 1969 though. (wishing if there was a time machine)

Craziest thing a fan has done?
Offered his help as a lawyer, if we ever get caught drunk driving.
