Singer-composer Papon aka Angraag Mahanta, who will be releasing his four-track EP, The Story Now, on his 41st birthday tomorrow, feels that Bollywood has never supported independent musicians. He says, “Bollywood had its own volume of work, so it never needed any help from outside and had nothing do with the non film music.”

Papon thinks promotion is the only way to attract audience.

The Assam-born singer believes that Bollywood has a wider reach than ‘non film’ musicians as the industry spends much for promotions. He says, “No independent musician can put in that amount of money to promote their music that a Bollywood film does to promote a single song. It is bound to reach wider audiences.”

Papon thinks promotion is the only way to attract audience. He says, “No one digs for music anymore. People don’t have time. The more you promote it, more people will listen to it. But, if it’s not a good song, it won’t work, no matter how much you try.”
