Harrdy Sandhu: I have become a bit laidback about music production

This is the only year when singer Harrdy Sandhu has released three singles in a span of 12 months. Since entering the music industry in 2012, the Soch singer has not released more than two singles a year, and he thinks this is because he takes too much time in completing a song recording.

“It has only happened this year that I’ve released three singles. Otherwise, I’ve released only one, or maximum two singles in one year. I think main thoda time zada lagata hoon (I take a lot of time). When it comes to mixing and production of the song, I want to make sure that everything is perfect, and I tend to take longer. This year, I’ve been a bit laidback about it, I guess,” says Harrdy, 31, whose recent single, Naah, was the third in 2017, after Backbone and Yaar Na Mileya.

The reason he takes so much time to finish each song is that Harrdy is always trying things out. “I always try to do something different with every single. I want to experiment and include different elements of the music-making process in a song. That’s my thought process when I’m thinking about a new single,” says Harrdy. “Naah, therefore, was a dance number, because my previous two singles were in a different genre. To follow it up with a dance video and casting (dancer-model-actor) Nora Fatehi was also something different.”

His single, which released on November 30, has crossed over 48 million views on YouTube, and the Patiala-born singer is thankful for the success. “I think with independent music, an artist gets to express himself and his creativity. I guess that’s what the fans can relate to and that’s how they fall in love with the songs,” says Harrdy. “It’s very important for me to be in touch with my fans, because I’m so thankful and so lucky to have so many people who admire and love my music, and I want to keep doing the same in future.”
