I miss Dilli ki chaat and Chandni Chowk, says singer Mohit Chauhan
Singer Mohit Chauhan says that he has always loved coming to the Capital
Singer Mohit Chauhan, who recently performed in Gurgaon, believes that the audience in the city has a big heart. He says, “I get immense love every time I perform here. I feel that all the buildings, MNCs and restaurants make this city a very happening place.”
Mohit, who rose to fame with the song Dooba Dooba, is a member of the band Silk Route. Born and brought up in Himachal Pradesh, Chauhan says that it was his dream to study in Delhi University (DU), although he didn’t get a chance to do that. “My cousin lives in Delhi, so I kept visiting the city and got really fascinated with DU. Apart from studies, one also gets good exposure to music here. For an artist, there are a lot of opportunities in the city,” he says.
But what is the one thing that he misses the most about Delhi? “The great tradition of Delhi can be seen through its cuisine. I miss Dilli ki chaat and Chandni Chowk ki galiyan, where I used to spend a lot of time,” he says.
A lesser known fact is that Chauhan always wanted to be an actor and also featured in stage plays after graduating from college. “Acting was always there in my mind, but I never tried too hard to take it up. I had to pay my bills, so I did whatever came my way. Music happened first, so I took it up quite passionately,” he says.
Is he open to take up acting roles now? “It depends on the type of project I get. Only after considering the role, I will decide whether I should take it up or not,” he says.
