How can Miley Cyrus not do something sensational? The Wrecking Ball hitmaker promoted her surprise album with a photoshopped image of the Pope Francis holding a copy of it, leaving Catholics hugely embarrassed. Miley shared the picture on the photo-sharing site instagram on September 1.
"All the cool kidzzzz are listening to #mileycyrusandherdeadpetz. check it out," she wrote in the caption. Many found the use of the Pope's photo to promote her album Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz offensive.
"Enferma mental (mentally ill)," a fan commented in Spanish. Another said, "This is disrespectful." Another fan agreed, "Yeah not okay with this, love u but love Pope Francis more."
The singer announced Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz after performing a new song called Dooo It! at the VMAs. A joint effort with The Flaming Lips, the album boasts guest appearances from Big Sean, the former Disney star's dad Billy Ray Cyrus and her frequent collaborator Mike WiLL Made It.
