The ARU said in a statement it had scoured the rugby world in search of male and female singers aged between 17-26 years from each competing country.

The ARU Ceremonies Music Director Lyn Williams has auditioned singers from national youth choirs, community choirs, university choirs and state conservatories of Music in each of the 20 participating countries.

After performing at the opening ceremony before the World Cup kickoff of the Australia and Argentina match here on October 10, the choir will disperse with each pair of singers performing their country's national anthems ahead of each game throughout the tournament, the ARU said.

Singers from Australia, Canada, England, Fiji, France, Georgia, Ireland, Japan, Namibia, Romania, Scotland, Tonga, Uruguay and Wales have been identified and recruited for the choir, the ARU said.

The choir will arrive in Australia in early October for rehearsals.
