Delhi-based band Indian Ocean's member Rahul Ram, lyricist Varun Grover and comedian Sanjay Rajoura's parody of the evergreen hit, Mere Samne Wali Khidki Mein (Padosan; 1968), has been trending on social media for the past few days. The trio, that has come together for a satirical show Aisi Taisi Democracy, will also be performing in Delhi on September 10, under the same name.
Rahul says that the song is part of their 90-minute show and they have many such parodies that poke fun at the complex nature of Indian democracy. "Through this song, we wanted to convey how people perceive their neighbouring country (Pakistan) based on what they have been told and what they read in the books," he says.

"You know what's interesting? People from South don't care about Pakistan. People from North can't stop talking about it. Of course, there is this whole history of partition, but isn't it strange that one part of the country hates Pakistan and another doesn't?" Rahul adds.
