She accused him of instigating communal disharmony by spreading false information on Twitter. DCP(South) Ishwar Singh confimed the complaint and said the police was looking into the matter.
The journalist got into a spat with the singer when the latter termed the murder of Infosys employee S Swathi,24, as Love Jihad and made certain remarks on Pakistan.
When many other Twitter users criticised Abhijeet for giving out false information and making derogatory remarks, the journalist took to Twitter accusing him of being “jealous of Pakistani singers who took his mediocre career”.
The singer got into a tiff with the journalist who then tagged Mumbai police on Twitter demanding action against him. The Mumbai police wrote back to her asking her to lodge a formal complaint. The woman told HT, “I have filed a complaint after Mumbai police advised me on Twitter. They asked me to approach Delhi police, who will forward the case to Mumbai,” she said.
Meanwhile, Abhijeet said he uses social media to express himself, but people tend to create controversy. “The journalists who trolled me are known anti-nationals. Saying that I am jealous of Pakistani artistes is such a shameful thing to say.”
