ALLAHABAD/MATHURA: A war of words broke out on Monday over alleged migration of Hindus from Kairana in UP with BJP saying it is not good for democracy and that a party team will be sent to probe the “sensitive” issue, prompting chief minister Akhilesh Yadav to retort.

Senior BJP leader and Union minister Nitin Gadkari said : “Party president has set up a committee, which will go there and study the situation. Such a migration is not good for democracy...”

BJP president Amit Shah also referred to it as a serious incident and said unless people wake up, such incidents can see repetitions at other places also. “So it is important you act against the state government by voting it out of power which has failed to address the issue,” he said.

Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said the saffron party was raising issues like exodus of Hindu families from Kairana as it was left with no issue in the wake of development works carried out by Samajwadi Party government in the state.

“I have looked into the Kairana matter and it has been revealed that some of those residing in Kairana have left the place 5 to 14 years ago. Yet, the BJP is blaming Samajwadi Party for this exodus because they have done no development work in the country and are finding no answers to development works done by SP in Uttar Pradesh.”
