ISTANBUL/NEW DELHI: UNESCO on Sunday listed Chandigarh’s Capitol Complex and Sikkim’s Khangchendzonga national park — home to the world’s third highest peak, Mount Khangchendzonga — among its World Heritage Sites, approving all three nominations linked to India this session. This approval is besides the archaeological site of Nalanda Mahavihara (Nalanda University) in Bihar entering the list at the 40th session of The World Heritage Committee meeting in Istanbul.

HOOCH TOLL GOES UP TO 21, MAIN ACCUSED ARRESTED
ETAH: The main accused in the spurious liquor tragedy was arrested even as the toll climbed to 21 on Sunday. Liquor vend owner Sripal was arrested from Nayagaon on Saturday night, SP Ajay Shankar Rai said. Police said he was arrested four times in 2015 but was bailed out each time. Five government employees, including three from the excise department, a CO and an SO were suspended following the incident. The DM said an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh each would be given to the families of the deceased.
90 DAYS’ PAID LEAVE FOR VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE
NEW DELHI: Women central government employees who have filed complaints of sexual harassment can get paid leave of three months during the pendency of inquiry, the government said. The leave will be in addition to those already given to central government employees. The move assumes significance as there have been complaints of accused trying to influence or threaten victims of sexual harassment in some cases.
INDIA’S FIRST E-COURT OPENS IN HYDERABAD
HYDERABAD: India’s first e-court was opened on Sunday at high court of judicature at Hyderabad, the common high court for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Inaugurating the e-court, Supreme Court judge justice Madan B Lokur said Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were first two states in the country to be chosen for Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS) project. Modalities of the system will be worked out at a meeting scheduled on July 28, he said.
VIOLENCE, OBSCENITY IN FILMS SPOIL CHILDREN: NAIDU
CHENNAI: Union minister for information and broadcasting M Venkiah Naidu on Sunday expressed concern over violence and obscenity “becoming part of certain sections” of Indian cinema. Speaking at the ‘Meet the Minister’ programme organised by the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce here, he said: “You cannot have a censor for all, you must have a self-censor… because you are doing injustice to the society by showing such scenes and spoiling children.”
2 BOOKED FOR ‘RADICALISING’ MISSING WOMAN IN KERALA
KOCHI: Days after at least 21 youths from Kerala were reported missing and suspected to have joined Islamic State, police on Sunday booked the husband of one of the absconding women and a Mumbai-based person under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act on a complaint from her family that the duo had ‘radicalised’ her. Police said the case was registered against Yahiya, husband of city-based Merin alias Mariyam, who went missing and one Quraishi from Mumbai, on a complaint by her brother.
