Kejriwal angry over Maliwal graft probe
NEW DELHI: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he was named as an accused in an FIR in the alleged irregularities
NEW DELHI: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he was named as an accused in an FIR in the alleged irregularities at the Delhi Commission for Women, setting the stage for another clash with the Centre.

But confusion prevailed after the anti-corruption branch (ACB), which filed the FIR, said in the evening that an initial probe had found nothing against Kejriwal and he was not being investigated, for now.
“My name has been mentioned as an accused. I read the FIR to find why my name is there… I did not find a single line that explains my role,” Kejriwal told a press conference in the afternoon.
The ACB had on Monday booked DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal on the complaint of her predecessor and Congress leader Barkha Singh.
Singh has accused Maliwal of flouting norms in recruiting 85 volunteers of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, who were being paid between Rs 25,000 and Rs 1,00,000 a month. Maliwal has denied the charge.
The government would call a special assembly session where he would expose the “conspiracy” behind the FIR, said Kejriwal, who has gone head to head with the Centre on several issues, including the control of the police and ACB appointments.
ACB chief Mukesh Meena said Kejriwal was mentioned in the complaint so he was made an accused. “We can’t manipulate the contents (of the complaint) and took it verbatim,” he said.
“Let me clarify that Kejriwal is not being probed, as of now. The inquiry report by the investigating officer does not name him. It names only Swati Maliwal and others.”
Kejriwal claimed that Meena didn’t know about the FIR. “FIR was drafted in PMO. Even Meena had no knowledge. There’s conspiracy to destabilise Del govt. Will expose it in spl assembly session,” he tweeted.
Barkha Singh told HT she wanted an investigation against Kejriwal as he was the head of the government.
