BHOPAL: A speeding private bus plunged into the catchment area of the Sanjay Sagar dam in Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, killing at least nine persons. The bus, which was travelling from Bhopal to Lateri via Shamsabad, had 50-odd passengers onboard. The accident took place around 1.30 pm between Shamsabad and Lateri areas of Vidisha (75 km from Bhopal), when the bus operated by Shakti Bus Service was crossing a culvert over the Sapan river. Preliminary investigation suggested that either the driver lost control of the bus while trying to save some vehicle or the bus plunged into the river following some technical snag. Vidisha superintendent of police DS Choudhary said efforts are on to find the other people in the river.
