RANCHI: The Jharkhand high court on Wednesday ordered the state government to pay Rs 1 lakh as compensation within 24 hours to the family of a minor tribal boy allegedly killed in police custody, a lawyer said. Taking suo motu notice, the high court also issued notice to the state and sought a reply within six weeks on Rupesh Swansy’s death. The minor was picked up by Ranchi Police from a shop at Bundu, around 50km from Ranchi, on suspicion of being a Maoist supporter earlier this month.
