NEW DELHI: Political ambitions seem to have cost RSS Goa unit chief Subhash Velingkar his job. On Wednesday the RSS announced it has relieved Velingkar of his duties after he announced his intent to start his own political party. Velingkar, who heads the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch, has been at loggerheads with the BJP government in Goa for failing to impose education in mother tongue in schools, and for not acceding to his demand to stop grants to schools with English as the medium of instruction. Velingkar was accused of showing black flags to BJP president Amit Shah during his visit to the state on August 20, which was followed by the announcement to float his own political party.
