Soldier commits suicide on LoC in Poonch area

JAMMU: Close on the heels of the death of a soldier under mysterious circumstances on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jogwan area of Akhnoor sector in Jammu district

JAMMU: Close on the heels of the death of a soldier under mysterious circumstances on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jogwan area of Akhnoor sector in Jammu district on August 30, another soldier died on the LoC in Mendhar sector of Poonch district on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Sepoy Mohan Lal of 37 Rashtriya Rifles, a native of Balour village in Pathankot.

Army sources stated that the soldier committed suicide with his service rifle at a forward location near Neelam Post at around 3.30pm. “The soldier is survived by his old parents. Investigations have been initiated,” they added.

On August 30, Lance Naik Rajendra Singh of 2 Rajputana Rifles died of a bullet injury under mysterious circumstances in Jogwan area of Akhnoor.
