Swamy at it again, calls Rohatgi ‘slimy’

NEW DELHI: Maverick BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy was at it again on Monday.

This time at the receiving end of Swamy’s jibe was the government’s most senior law officer, attorney general Mukul Rohatgi.
“My Petition on hate speech laws came in SC today. Slimy AG on Govt order had to delete his demand for my prosecution for an anti-terror book “, Swamy tweeted. He continued using the adjective ‘slimy’ for Rohatgi again in another tweet.
“Feel pity for Muslim fanatics and Hindu haters who had hoped the slimy AG’s counter affidavit asking for my prosecution will prevail.” Swamy has used acerbic comments and tweets against many senior and high profile government functionaries in the past including Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan, government’s chief economic adviser Arvind Subramanian and economic affairs secretary in the finance ministry Shaktikanta Das. Rohatgi didn’t take to the tweets kindly, saying he could also use adjectives, but didn’t want to stoop to that low.
“Swamy’s frustration is showing because his petition challenging the criminal defamation law has recently been dismissed by the Supreme Court”, the AG told HT...He knows that his present petition also has no merit since all the questions raised by him have since been answered by the Supreme Court in its earlier decisions.
