Ravindra Yadav, a resident, said Rambriksh, son of Bhola Yadav, was accorded the status of Loktantra Rakshak Senani because he was jailed under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act during the Emergency in 1975.

Additional district magistrate (finance) Anand Kumar Shukla also confirmed that Rambriksh received the monthly pension.

Shukla, however, was not sure whether the pensioner was the same person as the one who allegedly masterminded the Mathura incident.

He said details were being awaited. Soon after receiving the details, he would ensure the further course of action, he said.

Rambriksh Yadav belongs to Matia Basti (Mohalla) of Raipur Baghpur village under Mardah police station area in Ghazipur.
