“Noida is an industrial city and the movement of heavy vehicles is very high. There have been many accidents involving heavy vehicles. We have drafted a plan, which will be presented before the authority soon. We are planning to keep a check on the movement of vehicles between 7.30-11am and 5-10pm,” said Dharmendra Yadav, traffic inspector.

Recently, the Noida police had conducted a drive, wherein they had challaned and impounded many heavy vehicles.

As part of the drive, the police had also pasted glow stickers

on the front and rear side of trucks to make them more noticeable at night.

Officials said the move would not only keep a check on the number of accidents but would also ease the burden on commuters. Heavy traffic jams are witnessed during the peak hours across the city.

In Noida and Greater Noida, trucks, loading iron rods beyond the permissible limit — a violation under the Motor Vehicles Act — pose a danger to the lives of motorists.

The police said there was no provision in the Gautam Budh Nagar district to stop the entry of trucks.

Unlike Delhi, there are no entry timings in Noida and trucks can move about freely in the city.

As per the law, iron rods cannot protrude from the truck and a red signal should be placed at the end to warn motorists.
