Burglars decamped with valuables worth Rs 2.5 lakh from a house in Shipra Suncity apartments in Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, on Wednesday. The burglars entered the house after cutting the wire mesh of the rear door and opening the latch of the wooden door next to it.
The police said 25-year-old Priya Agnihotri lives alone in ground floor flat taken on rent and she had gone for a movie at the time of the burglary.
The stolen items includes a laptop, three wrist watches, speakers, two mobile phones, two iPhone chargers, a DSLR camera and gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 70,000.
“On Wednesday evening, I came home from office around 7.30 pm and left almost immediately for a movie, after leaving my laptop at home. When I returned home around 10 pm, I found that the house was locked from inside,” Agnihotri said.
“I had to call the security guard to get the door unlocked. My whole house was ransacked with each and every drawer and corner checked for valuables. I gave a written complaint to the police on Thursday after which the FIR was lodged on Friday,” she said.
The rear entrance of the house has two doors -- an iron mesh door and a wooden one. The police said the iron mesh door was cut to gain access to the wooden door.
According to the police the CCTV footage of the cameras installed in the society is being checked for clues.
“An FIR has been lodged in the case and the phones and laptop have been put on surveillance. The accused will be nabbed soon,” said Gorakhnath Yadav, station house officer, Indirapuram police station.
