Man burnt to death in accident on Noida-G Noida eway
He was trapped in his car following a collision with a government-run ‘Sarathi’ bus on Sunday night
A 27-year-old civil engineer was burnt to death after being trapped inside his car following a collision with a government-run ‘Sarathi’ bus near a private university on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway on Sunday night. He is survived by his wife and a minor son.

According to the police, the incident took place around 9.30pm on Sunday when Deepak Upadhyaya, who worked with a private company in Sector 150, was returning to his Delta 1 home in his Santro car.
“He was with his brother and their car hit the bus from behind. The government Sarathi bus had probably made an unscheduled stop on the road to drop passengers. The victim, in his car, could not spot the bus and ended up colliding with the rear of the bus,” said Manish Kumar Sharma, station house officer, Knowledge Park police station.
“The other person in the car somehow managed to escape, but the victim probably got trapped inside the damaged car that had caught fire due to collision. He was after burnt alive inside the car,” Sharma added.
Police added that the victim was from Siddhipur village in Ambedkar Nagar and a post-mortem was ordered on the body. Officials said they have lodged an FIR under sections of rash driving, causing death by negligence and mischief causing damage of the IPC against the bus driver.
They added that due to the impact, the CNG bus also caught fire and both vehicles were reduced to ashes. A fire tender was roped in to control the fire later.
According to sources, the bus had nearly 16 passengers who somehow managed to escape the burning vehicle safely. However, Deepak could not do so. Officials said an inquiry would be conducted into how the bus and the car caught fire in the incident. It is suspected that the CNG cylinder of the bus caught fire and so did the car, which got stuck in the rear of the bus.
