With Blue line extension, Metro comes to Indirapuram doorstep

In a bid to improve connectivity, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) connected its Aqua Line with the DMRC’s Blue Line via a walkway and a carriageway dedicated to e-rickshaws. The two lines, which meet at the intersection between sectors 51/52, are connected at the Blue Line’s Sector 52 station and Aqua Line’s Sector 51 station.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Saturday started passenger operations on its Blue Line’s 6.675km extension, which connects Noida’s City Center and Electronic City, the latter of which is located at the Noida-Ghaziabad border next to Indirapuram sub city.

In a bid to improve connectivity, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) connected its Aqua Line with the DMRC’s Blue Line via a walkway and a carriageway dedicated to e-rickshaws. The two lines, which meet at the intersection between sectors 51/52, are connected at the Blue Line’s Sector 52 station and Aqua Line’s Sector 51 station.

On Saturday, DMRC managing director Mangu Singh, along with NMRC officials, took an e-rickshaw ride the on 300 meters-long carriageway.

Passengers said they were happy as they would now be able to travel safely via Metro.

“We are extremely happy with the opening up of this Metro Link because now, travelling from NH-24 towards Noida and Delhi will become easier. We don’t need to go all the way to Vaishali to board the Metro anymore to go to Delhi, as the Electronic City station is just next our locality,” Sanjeev Kumar, an Indirapuram resident who went to Sector 34 from Electronic City with his friends, said.

This entirely elevated section consists of six stations - Sector 34, Sector 52, Sector 61, Sector 59, Sector 62 and Electronic City. The Electronic City station, in Sector 62 near NH-24, is the last station, which is near Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram in. This Link will branch out from City Center Metro station and also touch the 29.707km Noida-Greater Noida Metro Link at sectors 71/51.

The Blue Line corridor becomes 56.46km after opening of the extension of this link till Electronic City.

“Travelling via Noida’s Blue Line stretch to central and south Delhi has become comfortable. Now I can travel between my office in Noida and house in Jasola easily, unlike earlier when I had to either hire a cab or depend on shared autos,” Vibha Singh, who has her office in Sector 62, said.

The fare on this link will range from ₹10 to ₹30. On national holidays and Sundays, the fare will be ?20 from Noida City Center to Noida Electronic City. “I am so happy to be travelling to Rohini from the Electronic City station. Without this link, I had to take a shared auto to board Metro from Noida’s City Center. This stretch has made commuting between Noida and Delhi easier,” Vijaya Sinha, a Metro rider, said.
