Sheeraz scores a perfect 50 in Changwon World Cup; Mairaj 7th

The remaining three rounds of the competition will be conducted on Saturday and the top six will enter the final.

India’s international skeet shooter Sheeraz Sheikh notched his personal best of the season, scoring a perfect 50/50 in the first round of the men’s competition at the Changwon World Cup in Korea on Friday.

He was tied atop the field with three other shooters from Kuwait, Argentina and Norway. Sheikh remained confident of carrying on the good work in the second round on Saturday.

“My preparation was good, it helped me stay calm during the match,” said Sheikh after Friday’s opening round.

Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan shot 49 and is placed at seventh in the field of 84 shooters, while Angad Vir Singh Bajwa pulled out the competition as he was unwell.

The remaining three rounds of the competition will be conducted on Saturday and the top six will enter the final.

Earlier, in women’s skeet, Ganemat Shekhon shot 115 out of a maximum 125 in the qualification to finish in 21st spot.
