Arjun Atwal turned in a modest one-under 71 in the second round but managed to make the cut at tied 49th in the PGA Tour's Memorial Golf Tournament here. In a reversal of birdies and bogeys, he had one more of birdie and one less of a bogey than the first round to be even par for two rounds at 144.

At the Murifield Golf course, he bogeyed the third, but birdied sixth, seventh and ninth to turn in two-under. A birdie on 12th meant he was three-under, but two lapses on 13th and 18th saw him drop down to one-under for the day. Meanwhile Steve Stricker, who has never finished in top-10 at this event in past 11 years, knocked in a hole-in-one while capturing the sole lead at the event.
Gangjee misses cut
Maryland, USA: A disastrous day on the greens saw Rahil Gangjee card five-over 76 and miss the cut at the Nationwide Tour's Melwood Prince George's County Open. Gangjee's total of 149 was way below the 141 at which the cut was settled.
Gangjee had six bogeys, four of them on the back nine, against just one birdie on the seventh. Steve Wheatcroft came close to a sub-60 with a stunning 11-under 60. He missed a 22-foot eagle putt on 18th that would have given him a coveted 59. At 16-under 126, Gangjee is seven shots clear of second-placed Greg Owen (68).
Trio misses cut
Celtic Manor, Wales: All three Indian golfers --- Jeev Milkha Singh, Shiv Kapur and SSP Chowrasia --- missed the cut at the SAAB Wales Open on Saturday. Jeev, who with his first round 68 had raised visions of a good finish, disappointed on the second day as he carded a disastrous 79, one of his worst rounds in a long time, and missed the cut at an event where he was sixth in 2009 and tenth in 2008.
Kapur, who had 73 in the first round added a similar card to be four-over for 36 holes and missed the cut, which came at two-over.
Chowrasia also added a 77 to his first round 73 and took an early exit.
