Boxers, earlier placed in the graded contract system by the IBF, will get special cash incentives from Sahara India for each bout they win in the nationals, reports HT Correspondent.

Boxers, earlier placed in the graded contract system by the Indian Boxing Federation (IBF), will get special cash incentives from Sahara India for each bout they win in the nationals.

Introduced in the Sahara 56th Senior National Men’s Boxing Championship, which got underway in Hyderabad on Monday, boxers would be entitled to cash rewards from the preliminary rounds itself.

A win in the preliminary round will fetch Rs 500, Rs 1,000 in the pre-quarterfinals, Rs 2,000 in the semifinals and a berth in the finals will be worth Rs 3,000.

The champion will be richer by Rs 5,000.

“This has been possible because of the sponsorship money from Sahara India and in future we will try to bring more sponsors, so that the boxers get more cash incentives,” said Abhay Singh Chautala, president of the IBF.
