Spain defeated Netherlands 1-0 in last Sunday in the World Cup final at Johannesburg and Garcia wore a Spanish jersey during a practice round at the famed Old Course ahead of Thursday's start.
"It would be churlish to object, wouldn't it, given their great win," Dawson said. That would presumably open the door for kilts and all should Scotland ever claim a World Cup crown.
"I would hate to think what you would all be wearing if Scotland had won the World Cup," Dawson said.
