The day Caroline Hedwall confirmed her participation in the $300,000 Hero Women's Indian Open, the rest of the 107 players in the field knew they would have to put in that extra effort to win the coveted title. Though two-time winner Pornanong Phatlum managed to give some competition, the 22-year-old Swede didn't disappoint the crowd at the DLF Golf & Country Club on Sunday afternoon. With a comfortable two-shot lead, Hedwall triumphed, scoring a 12-under 204 (67, 68, 69).
“To win four LET tournaments, it's been just incredible,” the ever-smiling Swede said. “It's given me a lot of self confidence to go into the year-ender in Dubai,” the rookie of the year added.
Hedwall had five birdies and two bogeys in the final round card of 69. Sharmila Nicollet had the best finish amongst the Indians at tied-22 (75, 74, 68).
