Ogilvy wins Australian Open for 1st time

Geoff Ogilvy has shot a final-round 3-under-par 69 to win his first Australian Open by four strokes. Ogilvy, the 2006 US Open champion, finished on Sunday with a four-round total of 269.

Geoff Ogilvy has shot a final-round 3-under-par 69 to win his first Australian Open by four strokes. Ogilvy, the 2006 US Open champion, finished on Sunday with a four-round total of 269. Fellow Australians Matt Jones and Alistar Presnell were tied for second.

Former champion John Senden and Jordan Sherratt, playing his first tournament as a professional, were tied for fourth, seven shots behind Ogilvy.

It was Ogilvy's second professional victory on home soil after winning the Australian PGA in 2008. Ogilvy will play the Australian PGA event at Coolum, Queensland, next week, along with John Daly, Adam Scott and defending champion Robert Allenby.
