Sindhu gets the better of Thulasi

PV Sindhu, seeded ninth, defeated top seeded PC Thulasi in a marathon match which lasted for one hour and nine minutes in the Senior National Badminton Championships in Bangalore, to advance to the semis. She won 19-21, 21-11, 21-12 and will next face Aditi Mutatkar who beat Mohita Sahdev 21-15, 18-21, 24-22.

Harikrishna on top

P Harikrishna of India continued to top the leaderboard after settling for a draw against Dutchman Sergei Tiviakov in the eighth round of the 'B' group of Tata Steel chess tournament. With just five rounds to go, Harikrishna moved to six points and remained half a point clear of former Russian champion Alexander Motylev, who defeated Daniele Vocaturo of Italy.

The other Indian in the fray, D Harika played her sixth draw in the event.
