“I have enjoyed every single day post Beijing. I attended numerous functions across the country, and felt so proud when functions were organised especially to honour me,” he said.

“But now it's time to return to the boxing ring. The World Cup is approaching and I need to get back into my rhythm,” he said.

As reported earlier by HT, all the Beijing Olympic medal winners and quarterfinalists will be vying for top honours in the 1st AIBA World Cup in Russia from December 10 to 14. “There is now more responsibility and pressure on me to finish in the medal bracket after winning the bronze medal. But I am sure of living up to expectations and get even better results,” he said.

On being asked if he will continue with his camp till the World Cup, he said his priority is just the mega event. “But I will have to spare two days in between for Bajaj. I discuss it with my coach,” he said.
