Woman spectator killed at Tour de France
A 61-year-old woman watching the 14th stage of the 2009 Tour de France was killed when she was struck by a police motorcycle, the daily L'Equipe reported on its website.

A 61-year-old woman watching the 14th stage of the 2009 Tour de France was killed on Saturday when she was struck by a police motorcycle, the daily L'Equipe reported on its website.
According to witnesses, the victim was struck as she was trying to cross the road near the town of Wittelsheim, located about 40 kilometres from the start of the stage in the city of Colmar.
France Info radio reported that the motorcycle then slid across the rain-slick roadway and struck an elderly man and a 37-year-old woman, injuring them both. Early reports had spoken of three women being struck by the motorcycle.
The two injured people were treated by paramedics at the site of the accident before being taken to hospital in the city of Mulhouse.
