According to a report by Bloomberg, the Central government is considering a plan to transfer cash to farmers instead of offering subsidies on various agricultural inputs. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had budgeted 701 billion rupees for farm subsidies in the year ending March 31. (PTI)

The Meghalaya government assured the Supreme Court that the state and the Centre are not abandoning efforts to rescue 15 miners trapped inside a rat-hole mine in East Jaintia Hills since December 13.
