India on June 6 climbed past Italy to become the sixth worst-hit nation by the COVID-19 pandemic with the country registering consecutive days of record spikes in the number of fresh cases. The surge comes amid the first phase of unlock after a two-month shutdown while the government looks ahead at the graded reopening of the economy, with religious places and shopping malls schedules to open from next week.
