We tried to see how our desi celebs fare when it comes to doing high-end glamour, by taking a dekko at three recent looks where the ladies picked up luxe designs to wear. | Here's a desi winner: Known for her penchant for getting her style-business right, actor Sonam Kapoor picked up a lacy, sheer number for a recent birthday bash. The Stella McCartney creation was styled similar to the way it was presented on the runway, worn by model of the moment, Cara Delevingne . In fact, we won’t hesitate to pronounce Sonam the winner, owing to the strappy platforms she paired the dress with. The grey footwear on the ramp was far from being our favourite!

Understated victory: A fiery shade of orange is not an easy colour to carry off. And we admit, actor Priyanka Chopra did do a good job of it. But, when it comes to really knocking it out of the park, we think this Toni Maticevski design was owned completely by Hollywood beauty, Lily Collins, who wore it last month. Even the runway outing where it was topped with a cover-up did not make much of an impact. Lily’s clean beauty look and the polished bob offset the hue beautifully.

Unfortunately, the look did not do much for the actor, apart from ageing her. While the fit and the colour kept the look from being a winner, the only saving grace seemed to be her matte magenta lip hue. Thus, this round goes to the ramp, where the simple dress was offset with statement peep-toes.
