Afghanistan's Taliban rulers have banned university education for women nationwide, provoking condemnation from various countries and the United Nations over another assault on human rights. Despite initially promising a more moderate rule respecting rights for women and minorities, the Taliban have widely implemented their interpretation of Islamic law since they seized power in August 2021.
