Eight people were killed after a man driving a rented pickup truck mowed down pedestrians and cyclists on a bike path alongside the Hudson River in New York City.

Investigators inspect the truck which plowed into a pedestrian and bike path in Lower Manhattan. The driver was shot in the abdomen by police after jumping out of the truck with what turned out to be paintball and pellet guns and shouting what witnesses said was ‘Allahu Akbar’ authorities said.
