APMC PUNE to soon connect with farmers through ‘Facebook Live’ to share daily veggie prices

APMC Pune is the one of the largest APMC in India. Recently, the state government approved the proposal of the Pune APMC for renovation and modification. Now, this initiative will help the administration modernise APMC.

Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC), Pune, has stepped into the digital medium and will start a ‘Facebook Live’ to share day to day prices of different agricultural commodities with farmers from February.

Dilip Khaire, the chief administrator of APMC Pune, said,"This is the era of social networking sites and farmers too are on social networking sites. Hence, APMC Pune has decided to use this social media platform to reach large number of farmers. Last week, we conducted a demonstration of the ‘Facebook Live’, we have got enough response. We got 3,000 views on our demonstration ‘Facebook Live’, hence, we have decided to do this activity on a regular basis to share daily farm produce rates."

Khaire said, “Pune APMC is the first APMC in Maharashtra to conduct such a unique social networking initiative for farmers.”

Rajesh Lalwani (trader of sugar and transport) said,"This is a welcome move by APMC Pune. Social networking platform is booming in every sector, then, why should our sector lag behind? This initiative will help farmers and traders of perishable farm products.With this initiative, the APMC administration should focus on basic infrastructure in the Market Yard area."

Another trader, Kishore Kunjeer (potato trader) said,"Of course, this is a good initiative and we are proud that our APMC is the first one in Maharashtra to use social networking to share information of farm produce. This broadcast will help a large number of farmers who visit APMC on a regular basis."
