Eight dead in four accidents within 24 hours in Pimpri Chinchwad

Eight people have been killed in separate road accidents in Pimpri-Chinchwad, between April 30 and May 1. According to police officials five people were killed in an accident on Monday in Chakan; one was killed in Chinchwad; and two others succumbed to injuries in an accident in Hinjewadi.

SUV rams into three motorcycles; 5 dead

Five persons travelling on three motorcycles were killed after a speeding car crashed through a road divider and rammed into their vehicles.

According to police, the accident took place on Tuesday, at 11.30 pm near KDH Company godown in Khalubre, after the driver in a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga crashed into the divider, before hitting the bikes.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Suhas Namdev Shevkari, a resident of Chakan, suffered injuries in the accident and has been admitted to a hospital in the area.

However, he is yet to be arrested.

The deceased have been identified as Chandrashekhar Vishwakarma, 38; Sunil Sharma, 48 both residents of Bhosari; Deepnarayan Vishwakarma, 24; Satyavan Pandey, 45 and Sarvadnya Vishwakarma, 35, all residents of Morevasti in Chikhli. All the deceased are natives of Uttar Pradesh.

A case under Indian Penal Code sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 304 A (causing death by negligence)and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act has been registered against Shevkari at Chakan police station

Pick-up truck rams into a two-wheeler, kills woman

Location: Chinchwad Spine road

A woman identified as Kiran Natha Chavan, was killed in a road accident on Tuesday in Chinchwad. According to the police she was on her two-wheeler along with a pillion rider

The incident took place on Spine road, Chinchwad, when an unidentified pick-up truck hit the two-wheeler from behind.

The driver of the pick-up truck fled the spot. A case under Sections 304(a), 279, of Indian Penal Code (ICP) has been registered against the unidentified truck driver at Chinchwad police station.

Hitchhiker hit by unknown vehicle near Wakad bridge

Location: Hinjewadi Wakad

On Tuesday, midnight, a 32-year-old man was killed by an unidentified vehicle near Wakad bridge. The man was identified as Yuvraj Subhash Hingane.

According to police, Hingane was on his way to the Konkan region, when his family asked for him to come back home, and he did.

Arvind Hingole, police sub-inspector, Hinjewadi police station who is investigating the case said, “We are yet to trace the vehicle that hit Hingane. He had left in a car with his friends, however, he was returning alone, taking lifts from various people.”

Bike bangs 3 pedestrians, kills one

In yet another incident in the jurisdiction of Hinjewadi police station, a two-wheeler borne youngster hit three pedestrians at 2pm on Wednesday.

One of the pedestrians, a woman identified as Haseenabi Ainoddin Shaikh,69, died in the accident. The rider of the two-wheeler was identified as Navneet Ramnarayan Singh, 24, a resident of Madhuvishwa Society, Bavdhan and a native of Uttar Pradesh. He has not yet been arrested.
