30-year-old Tushar Prakash Pisal is battling for life from multiple gunshot wounds he received after he was fired upon by his wife’s relatives on Thursday.
The doctors at the Sahyadri hospital on Friday operated upon 30-year-old Tushar Prakash Pisal who is battling for life from multiple gunshot wounds he received after he was fired upon by his wife’s relatives on Thursday for marrying her. Pisal’s wife who belonged to a different caste married against her family’s wishes.
Pisal belongs to the Maratha caste, while his wife, Vidya, 25, is from Shimpi community that comes under the Other Backward Class category.(REPRESENTATIVE PHOTO)
According to the Hinjewadi police, doctors operated on Tushar and removed a bullet lodged in his throat. The victim has also developed paralysis and is under constant observation by medical experts, police said. Ajay Jogdand, police inspector (crime), said that the three accused arrested in connection with the case were produced before a court that remanded them to police custody till May 16.
Pisal belongs to the Maratha caste, while his wife, Vidya, 25, is from Shimpi community that comes under the Other Backward Class category.
The assailants were identified as Vidya’s brothers Akash (22) and Sagar Taware (24); their cousin Raju Taware (21) and a friend Sagar Palve. They fired on Pisal on Wednesday at Pune’s Chandani chowk.
The assailants came on motorcycles and accosted Pisal. They told him death was certain before firing on him. Vidya’s brothers were furious that their sister had married outside their caste, which was unacceptable to their family.
