Man booked for personating a veterinary doctor in Pune

When the animal’s condition worsened, the complainant tried to get in touch with Kamlekar, who failed to respond

A case against a man, posing to be a veterinary was registered at Kondhwa police station on Sunday, after a Golden Retriever he attended to passed away. The case was filed by Attaur Kazi, 68, the owner of the dog.

“On March 1, when the dogs health deteriorated, the complainant searched JustDial for veterinary doctors. They called the accused, identified as Anmol Kamlekar, a resident of Katraj, who attended to the dog and administrated it medication. When the animal’s condition worsened, the complainant tried to get in touch with Kamlekar, who failed to respond. The elderly couple looked up his qualifications, only to find out the accused did not have the required qualifications,” said SP Shinde, police sub inspector of Kondhwa police station who is investigating the case.

A case under Sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of Indian Penal Code and Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 was registered at Kondhwa police station against Kamlekar.
