Mentally-ill Pune cop hangs self to death

According to the police, Kasabe ended his life around 11.30 pm on Friday by hanging himself to his house’s roof ceiling.

A case related to suicide has been lodged with the Dehu road police. The deceased, identified as Jayant Krushnara Kasabe (50), a resident of Dehu road, was attached to Chinchwadgaon police station and was suffering from mental illness for the past ten years and had taken leave from work recently as he was recuperating from illness and needed a break.

According to the police, Kasabe ended his life around 11.30 pm on Friday by hanging himself to his house’s roof ceiling. The matter was reported to the police at 5.30 am after the victim’s family members saw the body.

Kasabe had stopped taking to anyone and used to remain alone over the last few days. On the fateful day, he slipped to his room after having dinner without talking to any of the family members, a police official said.

A team of policemen from the detection branch of the police station is probing the case.
