MNS MLA Sharad Sonawane booked for misbehaving with female police official in Junnar

Sharad Sonawane, member of legislative Assembly (MLA) and a member of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), was booked for misbehaving with a female police official at Ale Phata police station in Junnar.
The incident happened at around noon, on Friday, after the Ale Phata police intercepted and seized a pick-up truck carrying illegal wheat grains. The pick-up truck and the grains within belonged to a man identified as Yogesh Bhondve, one of the men working for Sonawane, according to police.
The legislator brought 40-50 people to the police station and shouted at a female police sub inspector of Ale Phata police station. “I told you five times to either come meet me in the office or call me,” he is heard saying in video clips recorded on mobile phones by the people present at the police station.
“Does this uniform belong to all your fathers? What (kind of policing) is this?” he is also heard saying.
A case under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 294 (obscene acts and songs) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC ) was registered at Ale Phata police station against Sonawane. Dayanand Gawade, police inspector of the local crime branch of Pune rural police is investigating the case.
