New Katraj-Kondhwa road is the citizens’ victory, says Hadapsar BJP MLA

Excerpts from his conversation with Nadeem Inamdar.
What do you think are the benefits of the project?
The road, once constructed and widened, will be an immense relief to residents of the area and also to the commuters who use the highway. Currently, the area has become a death trap where more than fourteen deaths have been reported in the recent past. The traffic flow is pathetic and it has become difficult for both the PMC and the traffic police to ease congestion and facilitate smooth movement of traffic in the area. Once constructed, the road will see local and highway traffic being bifurcated and traffic flow will also be eased.
Can you tell us a few details of the project ?
The total cost of the project is estimated to be around ₹225 crore and it will be one of the best road projects in the city. The project has come up due to the constant agitations held by the people to get their issue resolved. The government has finally sanctioned the project and we are awaiting the final approval from the general body. The project comprises of the construction of a high quality service road and the upgradation of road infrastructure, which has been planned in meticulous detail. The project also includes the construction of a grade separator, vehicular underpass, safety signs and a minor bridge.
What are your future plans after this project with regard to road management?
We will continue working for the citizens of our area and the city with special focus on providing the best road and drainage infrastructure to residents. Besides this, we will also ensure that necessary awareness will be raised, with regard to traffic rules, among residents. The construction of the Katraj – Kondhwa corridor will mark the beginning of a new phase of citizens’ progress in the state.
