Pune residents pledge to bring change in lifestyle

Volunteers from the Heartfulness Institute spoke about the importance of meditation to reduce stress in our daily life

A tree plantation and meditation drive was organised by Hindustan Times in association with the Heartfulness Institute at different housing societies in the city. The sessions were conducted at the housing societies, where around 50 saplings of indigenous trees were planted on the premises.

The event was organised to celebrate the first anniversary of Hindustan Times, Pune edition.

The sessions were conducted at My World housing society, Baner; Supriya Sankul co-operative housing society, Baner; Megh Malhar housing society, Dhayari; Aditya Sanskruti society, Narhe; Siddhivinayak Manas housing society, Dhayari phata; Bramha Suncity co-operative housing society, Wadgaon Sheri; Sun Empire society, Sinhagad road and Supreme Palms at Balewadi.

Speaking on the occasion, Dilip Vaidya, chairman, Megh Malhar housing society, said, “To deal with daily stress, we have to adopt meditation techniques. There is a need to bring about a change in our lifestyle and meditation is the only way.”

Adding to the same, Rajnish Lombhar, chairman, My world housing society, said, “Depletion of green cover is a serious issue on our planet, resulting into global warming. As we have seen a reduction in rainfall, tree plantation is the need of the hour. Thank you Hindustan Times for such a wonderful drive. Now, it is our responsibility to take care of the trees.”

During the programme, volunteers from the Heartfulness Institute spoke about the importance of meditation and taught techniques used by the institute to reduce stress in our life.

The volunteers said that many such initiatives promoting meditation and relaxation are conducted by the Institute for free.

Volunteers encouraged the residents to plant trees and take a step towards making Pune green.
