Senior PWD clerk booked for  driving junior staffer to commit suicide in Pune

The senior clerk was identified as Sangeeta Vishnu Jaybhoye used to pile her work upon Ashok Ramesh Kamble and forced him to work overtime, according to the complaint. She also alleged that the senior clerk used to humiliate the deceased man in front of his colleagues if he committed a mistake in the work assigned to him.

A public works department (PWD) senior clerk was booked for driving a junior clerk to commit suicide. The senior clerk was identified as Sangeeta Vishnu Jaybhoye, 44, a resident of Ghorpadi area, and the deceased man was identified as Ashok Ramesh Kamble, 34, a resident of Valhekarwadi, according to the police. Kamble worked in the sub-divisonal office number 5 of PWD located in Pune since 2015.

The senior clerk used to pile her work upon Kamble and forced him to work overtime, according to the complaint. She also alleged that the senior clerk used to humiliate the deceased man in front of his colleagues if he committed a mistake in the work assigned to him.

A case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the official at Chinchwad police station. Assistant police inspector (API) S Devtale of Chinchwad police station is investigating the case.

"His wife is a housewife and they have a son together. We have not arrested her yet. We are investigating the case further," said API Devtale.

The complaint in the matter was filed by the deceased clerk's wife, Amruta Ashok Kamble, 29. The two lived in Shivaji Park society of Valhekarwadi area of Chinchwad.
