Thieves break grill of house, steal cash, jewellery worth Rs.7.5 lakh in Pune

The thief, or thieves, entered the house by breaking the safety grill on the window of the living room of the house, according to the police.

A house was broken into and cash and jewellery collectively worth Rs 7.5 lakh was stolen from the house on Tuesday night in Dhayari area of Pune, according to the police.

On Tuesday, an unidentified person, or persons, broke into the house of Yogesh Raikar, 35, a resident if Raikar Nagar in Dhayari area along Sinhagad Road.

The thief, or thieves, entered the house by breaking the safety grill on the window of the living room of the house, according to the police. The person then entered the house and subsequently the bedroom of the house.

Cash worth Rs.40,000 and jewellery made of silver and gold stored in the cupboard inside the bedroom was stolen, according to the complaint. The total worth of the stolen belongings was calculated to be Rs.7,39,900, according to the police.

The incident happened between 1 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, according to the police. The Raikar family was attending a family wedding at their native place in Saswad when the incident happened, according to the police.

A case under Sections 454 (house tress-passing) and 380 (theft in dwelling house) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Sinhagad road police station. Police inspector (crime) BL Khodade of Sinhagad Road police station is investigating the case.

“The welding spot where the grills meet was taken off by force and the grill as dismantled. It is a bungalow and 11 brothers from the Raikar family live in the area. The complainant lives with his parents and wife in the house which was hit,” PI Khodade said.

The incident has happened a couple of weeks after another house in Dhayari was hit by burglars. In the earlier incident, the thieves broke into a flat in Alok Classic society and stole stole gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 1,46,500 while the family was at a funeral in Osmanabad, according to the police.

In another notable incident in the area under Sinhagad Road police jurisdiction, three houses in an area were broken into, and one of them was stolen from, on September 27.

In another case of house break-in and robbery, a family's belongings worth Rs 1,34,000 were stolen from a house in Purna Nagar area in Chinchwad, according to the police. House of Jaideep Hazare, 46, in Bhakti Apartment was broken into around 3 am on Wednesday morning, according to the police.A case in the matter was registered at Nigdi police station.
