Caitlin Clark injury update: Will she play tonight against Chicago Sky? Fever star's latest report
Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston are among the names on the injury report as the Fever prepare to face a short-handed Sky.
Caitlin Clark’s status is being watched closely before the Indiana Fever face the Chicago Sky on Saturday afternoon. Aliyah Boston is also on the Fever’s injury report, while Chicago will be without several key players.
Indiana enters the game at 19-12 after losing its last two games against the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces. The Fever lost to the Aces 86-84 in overtime on Thursday, despite 28 points from Kelsey Mitchell and a 21-point, 12-rebound game from Boston. Chicago is 12-19 and has won three of its last four games, including a win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday.
The latest injury report lists Clark with a back issue and Boston with a lower right leg injury. Chicago has ruled out Sydney Taylor with a left groin injury and Skylar Diggins with a right knee injury. Rickea Jackson is also out for the rest of the season after tearing her ACL.
The Fever and Sky meet at 3:30 p.m. ET at the United Center, with the game airing on ABC.
Caitlin Clark injury update ahead of Fever vs. Sky
Clark is listed as probable with a back injury and was expected to play against Chicago. The guard has dealt with the issue during the season, but it has not kept her out of the lineup for this matchup. The Indiana Fever’s Aug. 7 status report listed Clark as probable.
Her latest game ended in a difficult loss. Clark scored 20 points against the Las Vegas Aces but also had eight turnovers and missed two free throws late in regulation. Chelsea Gray then hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime before hitting another game-winner in the extra period.
That makes Clark’s availability important for Indiana, which is looking to stop a two-game losing run. She had also been averaging 8.0 assists per game entering Saturday’s matchup, the most on the Fever.
Aliyah Boston injury update before Chicago Sky clash
Boston is also probable for the Fever vs. Sky game with a lower right leg injury. She played through the issue against Las Vegas and finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds and three steals.
Boston’s recent form gives Indiana another major option inside. Her rebounding could matter against Chicago, which had allowed 37.3 rebounds per game, the highest mark in the league, according to the pregame report.
With Clark and Boston both expected to play, Indiana should have its two main stars available. The Fever entered Saturday at 19-12 after the narrow overtime loss to the Aces.
Sydney Taylor, Skylar Diggins injury status for Sky vs. Fever
Chicago will be without Sydney Taylor, who has been ruled out with a left groin injury. It will be her second straight missed game. Taylor has been an important scorer for the Sky and entered the matchup averaging 14.7 points per game.
Skylar Diggins is also out with a right knee injury. She has been sidelined since July 7. Rickea Jackson remains out for the season after tearing her ACL.
The Sky entered the game at 12-19 after beating the Los Angeles Sparks 95-88 on Wednesday. Natasha Cloud had 15 points, five rebounds and nine assists in that win, while Kamilla Cardoso added 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Fever and Sky met once earlier this season, with Indiana winning 114-106 in overtime on June 11. Saturday’s game is at the United Center in Chicago.
