Two arrested for drunken assault of woman from viral video in Pune

Two people were arrested in the late hours of Thursday for assaulting a woman while allegedly under the influence of alcohol and uploading the video on social media. One of the arrested men was identified only as Karrya, while the identity of the second person could not be immediately confirmed.

Police are still investigating the identity of the girl in the video. A case in the matter was registered under section 354 (punishment for molestation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the men visible in the video.

The incident in the video happened on Sunday, according to senior police inspector V Mulik of Chandan nagar police station. The video was shot by a bystander who allegedly uploaded the video on to Facebook.

The Chandan nagar police visited the spot near the Chandan nagar bus rapid transit (BRT) route where the incident took place.
